clutch not disengaging?

Alrighty, this is a weird one.

My slave was leaking. I thought it was too corroded but it turns out it cleaned up ok so I threw a seal kit in it. No leaks.

thinking I was good, I tried shifting it on the lift table.

Shifts ok, but the rear wheel is locked up tight in any gear with the clutch pulled.

No air in the system. I bench bled the master and then mityvac-ed the system. Trust me; there's no air in the system.

Ball bearing is still in place, push rod is within spec for bends (did the run out check).

So I figured my clutch plates must be bound up from sitting.

Pull the case cover off to expose the clutch. Everything looks normal.

Then I pull in the lever and feel the clutch plates. They're all free and loose, but the rear wheel is still locked like the clutch is engagd?

What the heck?

Rolls fine when trans is in neutral, don't even think about shifting with the engine already running and........GRONCH!

Yep, somehow, that clutch is still engaged while the plates are physically loose....... :shok:

Before I take the clutch pack apart, anyone see something I'm missing here?

Found it.

Once I had the clutch pack torn apart, I found one steel that had bonded to the friction disc.

Great white,

Good catch.  Are you planning to replace anything now?
.
Cheers,

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

Nope. Cleaned the steels and all is well.
