why did the PO replace the stock ignition system with a DYNA 2000 on my 85 FJ11?

it's on the bike, i was able to download the instructions, and saw that it advances the ignition a predetermined amount,

are they overrated?

when i look in the stator pickup area and refer to youtube settings, I can't get a TDC light, but it runs great, I am leaning towards putting it back to stock,

anyone have a picture of what the stock pickups look like and how they are set, and how the igniter is plugged into the harness?

any help would be appreciated
