Maybe I can start a "Go Fund Me" page to afford this helmet.

The large weave Carbon Fiber looks incredible. An inner liner that can rotate on impact is ingenious.

Fred,

You might spend a little less money for the 6D helmets:

http://www.6dhelmets.com/

YouTube has lots of 6D helmet videos.

There is also the Multidirectional Impact Protection System (MIPS), a cheaper version of the 6D concept.  It's light, easy, and could even be retro-fitted to a lot of helmets  Many helmet makers are jumping on the MIPS technology.  Most helmet makers are calling attention to the MIPS, as a feature in their helmet specs.

The middle of this weird web page is a video, trust me, just scroll down and click on the blackness:
http://www.mipsprotection.com/technology/

Sorry this clip is in the quirky Vimeo format, but MIPS explained:

Now I am no expert on helmets, but lately I went looking for something better than what was around a dozen years ago.  I found these two ideas, and both seem good to me.  I'd like to find anything better, but so far, this is the best stuff that I have found.  They do cost money, though.

Cheers,
Red

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

Fred,

That link is busted, sorry.

Man, I would not buy a helmet for looks.  Technology (like Bluetooth or HUD) usually means that the helmet itself is absolutely nothing special.  I'd want to buy a helmet for the best brain protection, not gadgetry.  If all that tech can be distracting while riding, that can be a dangerous problem.
You should check out all of the new helmet technologies.  They do cost more, but they are mostly great.

6D or ODS helmets (Wow!)
MIPS (some Bell helmets, some Fox, and many more)
Composite fusion (Kali Shiva)
LEATT
Koroyd
POC
Bontrager
Wavecel
and several vapor-ware designs, maybe just not on the market yet)

There are also three different safety standards to check out, some better than others:
D.O.T. (USA)-Approved
Snell 2015
European Standard 22/05 (ECE 22.05)
European BSI 6658-85 Type A

Looks to me like a Wavecel helmet is good for one crash only, but that is somewhat true for most helmets, depending on the forces/materials involved.

Ryan has the Bell Carbon Race Star. The Pro Star is only 2-3 ounces lighter (advertised at 3 lbs 2 ounce) for an extra $500 over the Race Star. Also the angle is way too aggressive for the FJ it is really made to be tucked up in a new sportbike style riding. He said he had a good deal of wind buffeting at higher speeds when riding the FJ last year.
