Got it in bits, cleaned, painted and looking beautiful with the kit waiting to go in.......
Anyone got a pick of a correctly assembled piston assembly, and whats the go with the washer/shim that I've seen in some kits, the kit I have does not include it??
Any help appreciated.
Russell.

1988? Not sold in the USA. In other countries the 87 was sold as an 88. 89s were also sold as 88. The brake master was the same. Have you check the parts diagrams on line?
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

'86 Ambulance - Bent frame, cracked case, due for an overhaul
'89 Stormy Blue - Suits my Dark Side

To clarify the 1988 model year. In the United States, the 1987 FJ1200 1TX did not sell well so for the 1988 model year, Yamaha did NOT import the re-designed 1988 FJ1200 3CV. The rest of the world, including Canada got the 1988 model which was the first year with the 17" front wheel. The main color for 1988 is the Theft Deterrent White/Silver. I don't think the Blue and Gold color was offered until 1989.

Thanks Fred,
Yep mine is a silver 3cv imported into Australia, I had the dark blue and gold also that I recently sold to a mate for a drag bike. It was also an 88 Australian bike. Thanks for the diagram, I just wanted to be sure on the orientation of the rubbers, facing each other as I remember, I just cant remember seeing a bottom rubber was I was pulling it down. Must be losing the plot.........
