Hello hello!

I just picked up a 1987 FJ 1200 in well taken care of stock condition after 10+ years of being without a motorcycle and now it's time to build it into the Cafe/Street Fighter I've always wanted!!

I have to be honest and say that it's been years since I've done anything mechanical with a motorcycle so the majority of the customisations will be purely cosmetic.  I have started by removing some of the plastic and painting whats left (minus the front end that still needs to go) with a base coat of flat black.  I have purchased a new round headlight as well as some smaller blinkers from a guy that strips and rebuilds old bikes and will soon be ordering a new speedometer as well as a new tachometer, etc.

This is current:

Any tips or tricks are much much appreciated but my main question at the moment has to do with all the wiring!  There is so much!!  I started to remove the front 'housing' with the headlight, etc. and there are wires everywhere!  How much of that will I need to keep and what do I do with it all!  I have ordered a Clymers Manual for the bike to see what wires I will need for the gauges but it just seems like there is an excess and I have no idea what to do with them all!  Help!

Hey, I'm doing the same. I put all the modules and adjusters back into the back of the bike in the seat compartment. There, I soldered and cut the necessary wires, and again dragged the electric beam forward under the tank. The cubes will also be under the tank, it is clean and you can not see anything.
