        Just picked up an '85 for my son on Friday. Mileage is just over 13k. Motor was rebuilt a couple summers ago for a blown piston. The PO I bought it from did the rebuild as the PO before him never did any maintenance resulting in the blown piston.  :dash2:  Motor is very smooth. Only has about 600 miles on the rebuild. Should I be following any kind of break in procedures at this point? Body not in the greatest of shape, but all there and that's fine for now. I scored an almost new front fairing for it off eBay that will be put away for future use.
   My son will be at college for another month so I can make use of it until then.  :mocking: It will be interesting to experience the difference between it and my '89.
        I am also starting the parts search for '86.

Do a leakdown check, do a compression check.  If they both pass, then you're done with break-in.

If the leakdown is still higher than you'd like to see, I'd suggest going a little easier on it for another 500mi or so, and check again.  If it still isn't putting up good numbers, I hate to say it, but it may be time to make sure that the rebuild was done well.  At that point you could likely just deglaze (and measure, obv) the cylinders and rering it.
