Just bought a 1991 FJ 1200, 40k miles on it, I like it so far, needs a 6th gear desperately. Can anyone tell me what the little electrical socket near the rear foot pegs is for? On the sprocket side.

If it's an SAE plug then it's probably used to charge the battery.

I have one on the brake side for a Battery Tender

Welcome BUzz, some of us have searched for 6th gear. A change to the front and or rear sprocket can help with that. It will mean less power to launch but also less RPM at freeway speeds.

Follow where the wires go for the plug. And or take a picture if you still need help.
