I picked up this 1988 registered Fj1100 to add to my collection.
I needed a straight front end for my bobber.
I've noticed a few differences.
Its still got the anti dive, but the fork legs are the same diameter(41mm) over their length.
The slides in the carbs have non adjustable needles and cut away bottoms to ensure a clear carb bore on WOT.
Subtle changes that I wasn't aware of in the FJ history

That looks to me like a custom painted '85
Half way thru the 1985 production year Yamaha changed from flat bottom slides to curved bottom slides.
All FJ's had straight 41mm dia. stanchion tubes.
All USA FJ's had non adjustable needles.

You can verify the production date of the bike by its VIN number. The info's in the Files.

I purchased my 85 in December 84, it has curved bottom slides.

My '84 has stepped stanchions at the top, between the triple clamps, narrows to 39mm.
Frame has been powder coated. Can't find the VIN on the frame and no plate.
