Vacuum Fuel Tap leaks

Just turned fuel tap to PRI position to fill up carbs and noticed fuel leaked out around Knob and enough to wet the side of the carb heat protector below, it wasn't dripping but the initial turn did it, maybe o-ring behind knob if there is one. Its back in ON position and no weeping all dry.

Is there a kit or do I replace the entire tap assembly and if so what other than tap assembly do I need?

All this the night before a three day trip :dash1:

I'm still going I hope

There is an O-ring if my memory serves me. And a rubber pad with holes, but that is not your problem. Change that O-ring and you are good to go. Bad thing is I think you need to remove the tap from the tank so you'll probably need the O-ring between tap and tank and maybe the gaskets on the screws that hold the tap on the tank (although I've reused those with success).
Randy and NRP carbs have kits (I had problem with their kit because the smallest O-ring - the one that goes to the plunger - wasn't sealing), but any fuel rated rubber O-rings will do it.

Randy's kit doesn't have the necessary O-ring as stated on the web. Sure he can get one. This middle one is needed: http://www.nrp-carbs.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/product&keyword=FJ1100&product_id=4140
On the other side, Randy's kit has items that this one doesn't.

Alan, if it does not leak in the run position don't fuck with it until you return from the ride. You don't need the "prime" position unless you run out of fuel.
So don't run out of fuel!

I won't be touching it until after Mudgee, if it ain't broke....

I'll try not to run out but I don't believe the PRI is classed as reserve, if you have to stop and take side covers to switch to reserve I don't think it is...

Cheers Pete

Not a reserve, but you would probably need to prime the carbs if they are empty. Or crank it long.

I used to have that same problem.  Petcock would drip when placed in the PRIME position.

I just never used PRIME and rode for several years before eventually replacing it.

I*f it's not leaking in the run position, you should be fine.

That was the aim of my statement.
