Have not been having trouble. Neutral light on, hit start button, click at the start solenoid, neutral light goes out (starter does not turn) . Second later the neutral light comes back on. Headlight not on (have light relay mod). Running lights on. using blinkers will also cause the neutral light to go out momentarily. I dont think it is battery, tried jumping from car. Might do that again. not kick stand switch. Actively working on it now. Maybe someone has had similar symptom. Got a ride Saturday/Sunday. Hate to leave Mopar man and FJmonkey unsupervised. Had a day ride last Sunday no problems. Parked, replaced tire and oil today and no start.

FJmonkey

What oil did you use??? I know your tire selection sucks.... Could be either....

Selection? I only need one? Update Looks like it is just might battery after all.

Hi Mike.
I had similar electrical gremlins on my '93 and it ended up being the battery.  When I checked the battery, it was reading 12 V + but it would simply not hold a charge...  That or your bike is showing its displeasure due to a missing air scoop protector ;-)

How old is the battery?  Sounds like it is your #1 suspect, but check connections first.  Could be just loose connectors at battery or anything related to starter.

The problem connection is between the seat and the bars.  :wacko1:

My guess battery is 3 years old maybe more. could not find record.  No warning it was failing. I keep on smart charger most of the time.  Looks like may need regulator my charge rate is over 17 volts.

BTW connections OK. Starts right up with jump from car. I must not have had a good connection on the first try. Funny now....is, when I started it, OH crap what now, only running on two cylinders...then remembered I had removed the fuel tank. Runs good with it back on. Although now my smart charger is freaking out. tired and hungry now. Time for a martini. Thanks for listening, except Monkey he's useless and toothless.
