Unfortunately, the Detwiler Fire is burning in Mariposa County.

The fire is burning North. The towns of Coulterville and Greeley Hill are being evacuated.

The little dragon is unfortunately right in the middle of the fire.

Here is map of the burn area from today. As you can see the little dragon (SR49) is right in the middle of the swath.

How big is that fire Randy. We are burning up in British Columbia. Have had over 700 fires here so far this summer and its only half over. The biggest one is almost 65,000 hectares, not sure what that would be in acres. We have over 40000 people that have been evacuated from their homes. Reminds me of 03 when we almost lost our home. :flag_of_truce: :flag_of_truce:

Thats a big one all right. There have been about 30 structures lost here some of the were worth in excess of 1000000. Sad to see when most of them can be prevented.Hopefully they will get a handle on them soon. Good luck down there

Every time I hear of these horrible fires in California I am reminded of two things. When the Mexicans first arrived in CA they had a problem with Native Americans continually setting brush fires. Their conclusion was the natives were crazy. In fact the natives were burning back the brush to prevent larger forest fires. Natives were experienced.

Many years ago after another big fire and destruction of many homes in CA,a Time magazine cover photo showed the area. In the middle of the picture of bare blackened hills stood a lone two story white house. Completely untouched by the fire while his neighbors homes where gone. Asked why his house was untouched the homeowner replied his siding and trim were made of hardyboard with a tile roof. Hardyboard is a concrete based product. He also said he had kept all brush cut back from his house. Must of been a native American.

Sorry for all those who have lost their homes.

A pistol is like a parachute, if you need one and don't have one you will never need one again.
