Fj takes Ferrari - checkmate

Well, personal goal number 53 checked. No matter the size of ones appendage, it can't help but feel a wee bit bigger when you dust a supercar - if it was only for a while. Here in CA you see many tasty motors, but few, if any, are up for a dice. Pussies.
Anyhow, I'm set to overtake a pickup, check mirrors, begin maneouver, check again, observe motorist glued to my tail - it looks like a miata (my mirrors blur a bit), so I gas, get by the pickup, pull in and prepare to let the nob go by. I mean, there's no glory in dueling with a miata.
But no, she's a full-blooded italian stallion. The throttle up noise as it wizzed by somehow stirred the Fj's inner being and she was on the charge. On its bumper now, we catch a slower car. Ferrari makes an heroic overtake, the Fj has an easier time removing the 'backmarker'. Then a shortish straight, the Fj sees a space and makes its bid. Bingo, we're ahead. Here's a corner, ooo, a little hot in, bit of a mess really, the Ferraris right with us. Pop up out of the bend and just nail it to the next twist. This time a better line, a gap between us opens up. Push hard out of this one, good through the next bend, the gap widens. A significant straight and we're well ahead.
It didn't take much of that to realize I was out of my comfort zone, so I slowed since I thought a point had been made. Then whoosh, he's past me. Ok, since it doesn't happen everyday, we were on again.
Round two - er - very similar to round one actually.
Big smile all the way home.
You gotta love these bikes.

kind of reminds me of the time we were trying to get back into the twisties from Hickory NC (we picked up some "draggin jeans".... there was about 12-15 of us on a four lane and the "intruder" split our group.... Andy Y ran the guy down.... it was a treat seeing the Porsche's blinker come on as it moved out of the way 

of course there was the one time i almost got run over by a huge dump truck on a downhill run.... too much traffic in front of me to pass but he wasnt slowing down.....  MF'er could drive that rig and definitely knew the road.

Good onya for upholding the heritage of the FJ

I raced a 911 Turbo with a CBR1000F.  He was working it hard, but as I shifted from 1st to 2nd, I had maybe three bike lengths on him, and it increased from there.  The Hurricane was not known to be all that fast of a bike.  Just goes to show that nearly any bike can beat nearly any car in an off this line race...
