I have reviewed the good work on color identification and paint codes for the various years, but have not been able to find any information on the tape used for the YAMAHA letters and stripe between the colors on the tank. My 1984 FJ1100 is Stormy Red and Quartz Silver. The lettering and stripe is a deep dark blue. I seek information on the color code for the tape and/or a place to purchase.

Thanks..

Hello Len, I don't think you will find any tape. I had my 84's fairing re-painted and I could not find the dark blue tape used for the stripe.
I had the paint shop match the dark blue color, and used paint, instead of tape....It turned out great. They did a fine job.
They also matched the oem Stormy Red color dead nuts...

another option could be if you really want decals , have them made up by a decal store, or as pat said, painted on, which would look better anyway , and makes for a smooth tank finish
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

Super old post, but I am working on this now. There are at least 2 sets of the stripes for the upper fairing on ebay right now ($33 and $43), and a group in the UK that makes a whole set of resto decals. Anyone buy the full UK set? Seems somewhat reasonable at about $80 landed.

There was some old post on decals from Hungary and as I remember they were really cheap.

I have 2 sets of the one's from Hungary. (Standard and High Viz/reflective) to put on to my 84 when/if i get her resprayed. Bike is not standard colour so haven't made up my mind on what will be applied. The cost of the decals was very reasonable.
