Just on the clutch - try to bleed it, adding fresh fluid in the process.

this was most definitely the right move. when i opened the reservoir the fluid was brownish and there were collections of muddy silt in the low points. after lots of flushing and lots of tiny bubble later, she shifts nicely. i can even find neutral.
