Don't ya just love it when stuff comes in the mail that you'd forgotten all about?
Good stuff that is,like today when this lobbed on the doorstep.

I'd gone to the Gold Coast MC Show and had a set of in ear monitors custom fitted, forgot all about 'em till today.

So, open up the bag and looky here!

It's a pair of WESTONE UM-2 dual driver earphones,YAY!

They come with a full set of instructions,

A carry case thingy,

Hmmm, bit big, the carry case, meh, it will fit in a pocket or tankbag,

But, they are custom moulded to my very own lug holes, see, they pour goo into your ear hole and let it set, perfect fit and seal and they lay flat inside your ear so helmets should not press against them.

They are a soft silicone, not a hard acrylic.

Now I've already gota set of Jays Q-Jays, tiny little things they are too,(top right of pic)

Now there's no doubt that the -Jays come with a lot more stuff, and are substantially cheaper, whether the custom moulds are worth the extra, hmmm, tell you after a back to back comparo.

I wear earplugs on rides any way, so it wasn't too far a step to add music & GPS/Phone calls to longer rides.

 K-man,

those look nice.....the IEM's take a bit of getting used to.... for me it was mostly because they isolate all other noises so well.

i went with this brand because they have a replaceable cord and the price was right.

dual drivers make for a very nice concert hall sound inside me head! ( i know it COULD be all the empty space in there echo-ing )

i went to an audiologist to get my molds made and got a free hearing test while at it.  :good2:

KOokaloo!

Klavdy

Aha!
I was trying to remember those ones, thanks mate!
Yep, I would most probably get the Livewires if I lived in the U.S (big hassle sending earmoulds to them, getting audiologists to make moulds here etc)
I really like the way the cables swivel and they are replaceable.

yup the replaceable cables are what sold me.... i know how cables like to wear out and snag on stuff

proper molds are critical to a good seal/fit.... the lady who made mine actually did them twice as she didnt like the looks of the first set even though i couldnt see anything wrong with them.

made me two sets of molds for 15 bucks and a free hearing test... couldnt beat the deal and got a date with the receptionist to boot :good2:

it's all good

Kookaloo!

No NID, your comprehension is deteriorating, EARPLUGS mate, they are not the sort of plugs for hairy orifices you'd be more familiar with.
No need to Brazilian ears.
