Does anyone have a list of bearing numbers for the FJs?  I am trying to cross-reference some numbers but not finding other options except for Yamaha.  I know that almost any bearing can be found elsewhere for a lot cheaper prices.  Lots can be replaced with sealed bearings.

If some of you are replacing bearings and seals, I ask you to send me the measurements of your bearings or Non-Yamaha part numbers and I can make a postable list for everyone to use.

I will try to find high quality bearings as I have noted that a lot of bearing suppliers only sell Chinese bearings.  Been my experience that Japanese (Nachi) or high quality bearing manufacturers like SKF or Timken would be my preferences.

If anyone has replaced their fork seals with SKF green seals I would appreciate receiving those part numbers as well.  They are very high quality.

Thanks

Greg

I don't have the numbers at hand but they are commonly available, someone will post them.

Make sure though you get sealed bearings, not open bearings and separate seals, times have moved on!

If anyone suggests popping out the seal and adding more grease, don't! The manufacturers know what they're doing, the guy telling you they need more grease doesn't.

I just happened to speak with Randy yesterday about this same subject.  He said that Yamaha and others have discontinued some or many of the bearings but All Balls still services them.

If you are looking for replacement bearings, search on the bearing size, not the application. In other words... don't search for "FJ1200 front wheel bearings."  Instead, go to any bearing manufacturer's website (Timken, SKF, McMaster, Motion or any other supplier) and search for 42x15x13 bearings.  Same thing for seals.

Bearings are made to international standards and sizes. Because custom bearings are very expensive, machinery designers don't make up oddball bearing sizes*; they look thru a bearing catalog and pick out an existing bearing that will work for that application.  All you have to do is match the sizes and seal configuration, and you're good.

*early Lotus Europa rear stub axle bearings. A one-off, custom-sized and ridiculously expensive bearing.

Thanks, that is what I did but I am also looking for the bearing numbers so I can buy them before I take the bike apart.  If anyone is doing something, send them.  Just making a list.  I also found some for seal kits from SKF that use green seals which are very high quality.
