Does a genuine Yamaha FJ1200 fuel pump have a check valve to stop flow when it's not running?
Mine has an aftermarket pump and I don't think mine does?
I see RPM has aftermarket fitment pumps, is this what everybody uses?

Thanks Ian.

Yes, the oem pump has a check valve. It's important. Yes, so does the RPM pump.

I bought an eBay China pump with a "lifetime guarantee" which crapped out within 2 months in the middle of BFE.....oh, but it had a "lifetime guarantee" was of little consolation. Fortunately we know about the fuel bypass procedure so we could get home.

Oem fuel pumps are too costly. The quality pump offered by RPM is a good value.
Sure you can go FleaBay cheap, like I did but, I've learned my lesson.

On rides that I do that are over a 300 mile distance from home. I carry at minimum two spare parts.... A known good used OEM fuel pump....Yes, the fuel bypass works well, but the pump is small and does not take up much space. The second part is a critical one. A failure of this and you are sunk...no bypassing this. A known good Igniter box.

Yes, so does the RPM pump.

Well, technically, it does not have a check valve...

But it is a plunger style pump that is spring loaded. When the power is shut off the spring pushes the plunger back against the seat stopping fuel flow. In all of my years I have only had one that leaked/bypassed when there was no power.
