Front brake master switch harness

I went to replace the 93 brake master with an FJR one and ran into an unexpected issue.

The FJR master electrical switch has two small spade terminals, just like the early FJ. The 1993 has a harness hardwired into the switch with a three-pin connector. See the picture.

I don't really want to rip into my 86 to check this. Does anyone have the brake switch harness from an early FJ with the two spade terminals on the switch handy? Does it have a three-pin connector like that?

If it does, and anyone can part with it, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I'll be ordering a connector and building one.

Hi Jpaganel.

I just checked my '86 and as far as I can tell, there are two wires that lead to the front brake master (brown and green/yellow).  I am unsure if that is what you wanted to know.  If not, I can dig a little deeper as everything right now is quite accessible.

Can you see where the other end of those wires is?

An eighty Five model the wires go directly to a ten pin connector on the right side under the cowling. The front brake switch, start switch and engine stop switch  all go through this connector.

My'86 and '89 have two loose slip-on connectors. So I will need improvise my clutch master switch. And again for the brake master when i go 14 MM.

The brake switch is two small spade terminals until 90 or 91. It's the same two small spade terminals on a lot of MCs you can get in 14mm.

Ironically, I need to get it back to the small spade terminals because that's what the FJR MC  I have uses.

Looks like I'll be building a harness from scratch. I don't want to cut up the original one, someone might need it.

I found where the harness goes on my '86 and it does not sound any different from an '85 as posted by CT7088.  From the master, it ties into another harness (the one from the starter/kill switch pod) and then connects into another connector (10 pin although only 8 wires are fed into and out of it).  You could probably connect your FJR harness directly into this connector...replacing the brown and green/yellow wire.

For what it's worth  I just tonight pulled my '94 FJ12 master cylinder apart to rebuild it and it had the 2 wires connected as well.
