Weight of mill?

Hi everyone.
I am in the process of removing my engine for complete rebuild.  Before I take this thing out, I want to prepare for its weight.  Does anyone know how heavy this beast is?

Around 200 pounds as I recall. I asked the same question before I pulled mine.

It's heavy. If you're not a big guy, you'll need another body, or some mechanical advantage.

You can support the bike underneath the engine, and lift the frame right off the engine, leaving the engine on blocks or something.

I did manage to shift mine from the bike stand onto the work bench - roughly the same height - Its a heavy mutha for one person And I should have waited but sometimes even with two people it can be awkward.

i had already removed the head and cylinders which helps remove about 15kg/30lb!! I would suggest removing as much as you can before lifting it. (Clutch, ignition, starter, alternator etc)

Oh, lovely, 200 pounds!  That is actually not too surprising...  I think this is going to have an adverse effect on my hernia.  I think I will place it on blocks and then remove the frame from above.  Any other suggestions or pointers? Thanks! :good2:

Randy (RPM) and I removed my engine from my '86 without lifting the bike. A (low to the floor) jack was used but mostly two guys wiggling the lump out while it sat on the floor. Before that we lifted the front of the bike while on the center stand. Twice in one day...
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Twenty years ago it was easy to find someone to help remove and replace engines in my 650 (about 150 pounds). Now not so much. All my friends either have heart problems, bad joints, or are care taking parents or spouses. I bought a Harbor Freight one ton shop crane and I was able to swap a couple of 650 engines by myself last month. This month they are less than $100.
