So I am over a week late but still getting caught up.

Made it back from the rally- over 6,500 miles for the trip. Not bad for a first Real motorcycle road trip!

I left Ouray about noon and arrived in my driveway 24.5 hours and 1,367 miles later. Breakfast at the FJ rally and then lunch with my family - what a ride home!  :wacko3:

Full report and video to come. Thank you again to everyone!  Look forward to future rallies!

That is certainly covering some distance. Well done!
It was great to meet you Isaac, and your Dad. I'm glad you guys could come.
Hope to see you at the next one.  :good:

If that's not a typo, that is truly amazing, well done seems a bit weak for such a monumental effort. I imagine any photos you took en route will be blurry.

Nope, not a typo. Why not, I figured. It is not every day I find myself far from home, on a capable mororcycle, and open roads before me. I think I found my limit though, could maybe fit in a few hundred more miles but it would all have to be slab- and that is not as much fun as it could be. I went North through Rifle and Craig. Then to Spearfish to split storm cells and straight home. Long distance riding is new to me but I am sure many of you can attest- after a while my body, mind and bike became one. I really didn't have to think about doing- all three just did. It was almost an out of body experience. I felt like a bird flying low to the ground. Seeing, smelling, hearing, feeling- all that was around me and yet focused on where I wanted to go.

I didn't get too many pictures on the way home- essentially only stopped for gas and food. But here is one of the sunrise, after riding through the night watching lightening explode across my entire view of the horizon like the Fourth of July. I got lucky, had a good radar app and found a break in the cells. Sneaking through, hoping the storms would not notice I found a gap in their line. The sunrise was a welcomed sight and warranted a quick stop, photo and go. But 450 miles still lay before me and the sun was now my guide.

Yes, well done Isaac, you and your pop are a welcome addition to our clan.

Paul, Jason and I put on 4200 miles on this tour.
This was visiting the WCR and Central Rally then the long way home.
12 days riding in all, put the average daily mileage at 350. Some days were short days, 200 miles, some days were long days 500+ miles (ugh) but 350 for the 12 day average was a fair amount of travel (for this old guy)

Thank you Alan for all your work on making the Colorado Rally so much fun. What a beautiful state.

Wow, that is some achievement. It's a great testament to your physical and mental stamina, I'm impressed. Being partial to the odd big day myself (about half that) your effort is way out there.
Next time take photos. I have spent half a century trying to master the various disciplines of motorcycling, the most difficult has been ....stopping, or more often than not, going back to get the photo.
Always take the photo!

I hope it has whet you appetite for more - there is nothing like a road trip on a bike but make sure you give yourself time to enjoy it along the way, it multiplies the memories many times over (especially if you have photos!

Oh, there are lots of photos from the total trip, I just didn't take too many on the long ride home.   :drinks:

Pat, I'm sorry I didn't get to see your bike fully loaded down Beverly Hillbillies style.
It was a quick turn-around for me, with catching the last day of the rally and so worth it. What an amazingly beautiful area and I had such a blast riding with everyone. Much thanks to Kurt for helping me with some last minute maintenance to make the trip possible.
It was a little disappointing to see 1tinindian's bike with some dirt on it, I have admired his bike on forum pics many times.
Thanks to Dave and Fred for greeting me when I rolled in at about 4am on Saturday morning.
It was great to see everyone I met at last year's WCR and also great to meet new folks. I echo Pat's thanks to Alan, and Derek and Donna are some pretty cool Canadians.

Glad you made it. Next year is the 15th anniversary for the WCR. Start planning now.
