Ugh, so I'd have to do some screwiness with zener diodes or the like.  Fooey!

 I have not had good luck with the Sylvania 194LL (long life) . The OEM Stanley bulbs from Yamaha are much better.

No LED in the low fuel light.  I did that for while.  It was on 100% of the time.
Mark may be correct that there is a variable voltage through the bulb, and it becomes brighter as the fuel level lowers.  All I know is that it went away when I replaced the LED with the 194LL.

anyone have pics of their dash with LED's? I wanted to do this since i have a bulb out but couldn't decide since i dont know how the light will spread or look. Or which ones to get. they have a few on ebay, different types too.
