fj1100 stalling on a hill

I cleaned the carbs and synched them. She fires right up, idles great, good throttle response. Back it out of the driveway and onto the street which is a pretty decently sloped hill. If I try to start going up the hill the bike will stall out. Then it doesn't want to fire up again .... until i level the bike out and it fires right up again. If i keep it on flat ground or a more gradual slope, it runs just fine. This has me baffled. Is there a tip over switch or something that could be faulty and causing it to die on steep inclines?

I would think either float level, idle too low and your just stalling it. I can't think of what else a slope would effect.

Since you had the tank off to do the carb work you might go back and make sure the vacuum hose and wiring if applicable is hooked up to the petcock, not pinched etc.. Area to look at anyhow. .

Thanks guys. Float levels were carefully set at just over 22mm. I looked it up and 22.3 +/- 1mm for the 84. Is that correct? I will recheck the routing of the fuel line. I don't think its the vacuum hose since it has same problem on prime.
