Hello friends.  I'm from Edmonton, Canada.  I recently purchased an '88 FJ1200.  It's in great shape and runs very well.  I'm looking forward to painting it this summer.
I look forward to learning more about my new bike from you guys.

Welcome, your '88 is an '89/'90 here in the states.  Looks like you have a few FJowners just South of you https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=724879#.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I am just south of you in Ponoka, I have an 85 that I bought new and still have.

Congrats on your purchase, the FJ is a hellva bike
