Hi there

My FJ has been lowered by the PO who apparently was a woman. I want to regain the height and the proper steering - will make the dogbones myself however dunno what should be the size of the things.
Anyone could be as kind as to measure the distance between the bolt centers on the dogbones in their FJs? Mine is 1990 3CW.

Looks like to extract the upper bolt will be a pita - must remove the left silencer /gasket!?/ so I would like to be right on the money without dialing in.

Any support will be greatly appreciated.

Soooooo? :) which is stock? 10.5 or 12.5 cm or am I confusing things?

uhhhhh..... stupid me. 3cw 10.5. Thanks a lot buddy.

mine is 110mm roughly ctc. Is that lowered at all?
mind you I have a strong enduro background so anything tarmac orientated is LOW.

so shortening these by... say... 5mm will lower the wheel by how much???

The North American models are:

89, 90 3CV
91 onward 3XW

They are slightly different in other markets.

If they are the original dogbones they should be stamped 3CV or 3XW.

Sorry cannot help on the adjustment

The adjustment of the dog bones on the '89/'90 and the '91-'93 models work as follows....

Lengthen = Lower
Shorten = Taller

Many members use a 1 inch thick board stuck under the rear wheel with no dog bones installed. Take a measurement between the hole centers of the relay link and the swing arm. Fab up a new set of dog bones to the new measurements and your FJ will handle much better. This procedure will end up with shorter dog bones, raise the rear end, and give you a taller seat height

Hi, I should be able to get you a measure from stock tonight.

I also have used these and they fit as the bolt sizes are the same:

I would be cautious using these thru bolts shown with the above links.
It is not a good design using thru bolts with the links supported on the threads of these bolts.

Pat, good perspective...had not considered it as an issue.  No problems thus far but will watch closely.

Soupys Performance for adjustable dogbones.  STRONG AND WELL BUILT.  No questions at all about them.   There may be others as good -- but I know without a doubt these are up to the task.   Not worth looking for a cheaper solution...
