Hi everyone
got the engine in the new fj together and back in the frame yesterday, connected everything up exhaust and carbs in ,turned ignition on , and fuel pump did not run. checked power supply to pump was there and 12 volts is there but no earth (ground) suspected it was the pump relay, so went to change it and its not under the seat
hunted round for it and couldn't find it anywhere but I found a couple of things that surprised me,The first was a black relay box marked hazard relay and the second was the light  switch didn't have an off position for the lights, So I am starting to suspect that this bike is a grey import to the UK can anyone suggest where the fuel pump relay is if it has one fitted, and if not why the pump doesn't run,  got the pump running by connecting  the earth to frame and engine started after I switched coil power leads.

Seeing as how none of our experts have offered and answer, I'll give it a shot.

Why not just make a direct earth for the pump if that's the only problem. Relays only provide power.

The hazard relay is probably just that, a relay for the hazard lights (is there a "hazard" switch on the LH block next to the high/low beam switch?)

Depending on the country and model, many FJ's did not have an off position for the headlight.

I just saw this post. It will be a few hours until I am able to get home and look at my wiring diagrams. In the mean time. Have you considered ordering one of these?
