Among other things my bike is over due for is a front suspension spruce up. Except for seals and oil everything is original. I know the ride is not like it was back when. I am not up to doing mods that many have done with newer bike parts. So want to work with what I've got. I was looking at web site for Race Tech http://old.racetech.com/evalving/english/Srchpr.asp?bikeid=542&manufacture=Yamaha&model=FJ1200&year=86%2D89&TABLEINFO=street&langname=english
Seems user friendly for selecting springs and I was somewhat intrigued by the fork emulator. Kind of pricey though. I was wondering anyone here has experience on these products and what your thoughts are.

Mike, if you are happy to keep the forks as near to stock, but improve their performance, its well worth the $'s
I've been using their .95 springs and Gold Emulators for about 4 years now. Combined with a Superbrace......I doubt you could do any better with these forks.
That being said, the bits and pieces for an FZ1 front end transplant are coming together bit by bit.

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

been running linear 0.95 kg/mm fork springs with 110mm alloy spacers, Race Tech Cartridge Emulators set a 2.5 turns from softest, 15wt oil at 130mm height ( measured so oil is 130mm from top of fork with fork compressed, no spring ) preload set at 20mm for 5 or so years now very happy  :yahoo:
I have kleptomania,
but when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

I just installed them on my 89.  I could tell the difference before I got to the closest gas station for the post-rebuild fill up. Much improved.
Stock springs for now, 2 turns on the shim springs, medium rebound setting.

Appreciate the replies. The super brace is another item I intend on doing at some point.
