I needed a wiring harness that was in better condition so I bought one from eBay and the person said it was an 89 harness so I got it and started putting it in and the front of the harness connected perfectly but when I got to the back all the colors were different than my other harness, I have most of the wires connected but I can't figure out where the stator wires connect to the harness and there's this one slot connector on the negative battery cable but I don't have anything that connects into it and there's some other plugs that idk if they connect to something

Welcome Reaper.
Here's an easy solution.
You have an Owner's Handbook for your FJ, correct? In the back there is a wiring diagram for your bike.
If not..see my signature line, get one free.

Now at the same website, get a Owners Handbook for the '89 it's free..

Look at the two wiring diagrams, see if that helps you.

If I may make a suggestion, go to your profile (button at top of the page) and in your signature line put in the year FJ you have, it will automatically show up on each of your future posts. You won't have to mention it.
This info. will help us help you.

Ok, I see, you have a '89 and the harness you bought 'supposedly' came from a '89...hmmm.

I assume that you are in the USA and your FJ is a USA model, and the harness you bought came from a USA bike?

Better get a Haynes FJ manual which has all the different year FJ wiring diagrams, and see if you can match up a diagram with your eBay harness.

Yeah, I'm in the US but I have a European bike and idk if the harness came from a US bike or euro bike. Ok yeah I'll try to get a Haynes FJ manual. Should I look into getting another harness?

ok, all bets are off... as you discovered the EU bikes are a little different than the US bikes.
You need to find out what you bought.

I don't have access to my manuals to check but *I think* the Haynes/Clinton manuals have both the EU and USA wiring diagrams..

Can anyone check for me?

Both my Haynes and Chilton manuals have US and UK diagrams.
