I am a compulsive buyer of three things, levels (spirit and laser), torches and motorbike gloves.

Having just bought new gloves for my trip last week, I bought another pair today.

I can ride all day in pissing rain and stay perfectly dry, except for my hands. I have many pairs of water proof gloves that do not let the rain penetrate them but they all eventually leak down the cuff and fill the glove with water.
I know there are gloves (Dainese) that overcome this problem but I could never bring myself to stump up the near $300 they cost.

Alpinestars have a glove using the exact same principle for a trifling (cough, cough) $200. I found some today for $130 and snapped them up. They were having an odd size sale and the 4XL was a perfect fit (yes, it's true what they say about big hands!)

These are the gloves with the double cuff. The first one goes over your arm, then the jacket cuff over that, then the second and outer glove cuff over that. There are drain holes for the water in between the inner and outer glove cuff.
The gloves have been around for a while but these are the latest version.

I have tried these before (a borrowed pair) and they work and you never know when you'll need a dry warm hand.

OK, with all the reports of inclement weather being thrown around for the upcoming rallies I thought I would update my glove report as they have now been put to the test.

They are Goretex and have other nifty features with padding and reinforcing of high wear areas. I can vouch for the water proofness of them but as they are new I cannot offer an opinion on how they will wear.
Wet hands, if riding long distances in constant or heavy rain have always been a problem and these gloves so far have proven to be the goods. Being Alpinestars I am hoping for a good life from them.

Wet hands suck!

Or you could just move to Queensland  :yahoo:

Cause we all know it never rains in Queensland, right? :-)

The General

Mate that`s gotta be the best detail I`ve read on a pair of gloves! Many thanks cause I`ve been looking for such an article for my next visit down Cold South Coast and even colder when I go further for Dinner!

Always wondered what those two little holes were for, just thought it was for hanging them up next to one`s cravat!

It generally only rains long enough here to green our spectacular forests and rarely getting below 8 deg C, but every now and again mother nature does decide to give us a good wash out for any shit that may have accumulated. If she fails in any part of that quest, we just change the laws!   :drinks:
