Curious as to which shocks fit for what years of FJs.  Are they all interchangeable? If not, what years work with other or vice versa? Thanks.

I will take a stab at this.....

According strictly by part number, interchangeability are as follows.

'84/'85 interchange
'86/'87 interchange
'88/'90 interchange
'91/'96 interchange

There are a few alternatives from other manufacturers that have shown success.

1998-2003 BMW1200RS, below is the files link for the install

CBR600 F4i, below is the files link for the install

There are also a few after market shocks that work.

RPM has a purpose built shock just for the FJ. http://rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=M%2FC%3ARPMShock%2891-95%29

Other brands are,

Penske,
Wilbers,
Hagon,
Hyperpro,
YSS

Hope this helps

Well done Fred!  :good:

Don't consider an oem Yamaha shock. They are under sprung and under dampened on a good day.
