It's been a while since I posted . Here's a picture of my 85 FJ1100. I had the frame repainted gloss black. Cleaning the valve cover took a lot of time. But sure looks worth it.  :good2: Any tips on cleaning would be great. I'm also planning on changing the stock headers to stainless steel headers.

Looking good.

How did you remove the black powdercoat from the engine, and how did you treat the raw aluminum after?  Clear engine paint?

I am interested in the left side crankshaft cover. It is not a Yamaha cover and appears to have another wire coming out of it too.

Do you know what that cover is and what the additional wiring is for?

The grafted cover, appears to be an ignition pickup cover from a Kawasuckme. I'm guessing a KZ1100. Looks like the one on my KZ1100B1.

The donor bike might be lurking in the background. See OP's last pic.

I used .some paint stripper then sanded the engine. After that I used high temp engine enamel paint.
Swing arm is looking good.  :good2: I never knew that case was from a kawasaki. The bike you see on the background is a kz1300 six cyl.

The additional wiring connects to the ic ignitor.
