Also the clutch has started slipping,is it just a matter of fitting heavier clutch springs to fix the problem?

Adding a second spring is just kicking the can down the road a little further. And it makes for a stiff clutch lever, bad in stop and go till your grip gets stronger. Just get a new set of OEM fibers and all will be good for many more KMs. And if you need a little extra grip in the clutch you can remove the retaining wire and narrow fiber and replace it with a full size fiber. If you are worried about the spring being weak then replace it with the FJR spring, it is the same spring but costs less for some reason.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Is the clutch slipping at high RPM after a shift or always after 6k RPM?
Either way inspect discs and fibers for wear and add a full size fiber to replace the skinny one..if still not enough then double up springs and use an fjr clutch master to save your hand from the increased pull.
Most riders don't need the double unless your body weight and gear are over 325 lbs. Or you are a redline shifter.
