I made it home half an hour ago, easy ride south.

Paul texted me from outside Lexington, and he will probably be home by 6pm.  Andrew and Marian are in the car, probably out of the mountains and into the flatlands by now.

Andrew, Paul, and I went down 315 toward Reliance this morning for a bit, just to swap bikes around.  The Scrambler felt SO NEW and was a joy that way, as well as the wide bars and the easy easy controls.  (He is going to get a Corbin seat for it, and not a moment too soon.)  Everyone gawked at the Scrambler at Crossroads of Time, and I can see why, it's the exact right size and has a great look.  Compared to that thing, the 998 controls are really tough to move.  He liked Andrew's 916 better than the 998.

He loaded up and left when we got back.  Andrew and I went off up the Cherohala a ways, his first ride all weekend without a passenger.  We switched for a little while and wow, I think I like the 916 better too.  I have some sorting to do on the 998, as well as some FJ fixing ahead of me.  Good problems to have.

When we got back to camp a bit before noon, we were all that remained of the FJ rally.  Andrew and I have been the first to arrive at a rally, meeting at Boone on a Monday a couple years ago where we got to watch everyone roll in over a few of days.  This was a little bittersweet, with the empty campground while we loaded up.  We felt a bit like a kid who is the last one at summer camp after all the other parents have picked up all the other kids.  I'm usually sad to roll out early while people are still there, but being the last one out I was glad to get on the road.

You who missed it (Stu and Jeff & Nancy among others) were missed, but I enjoyed visiting with you guys who made it.

Off to do laundry.

Qbert and I made it in about 415.

It was another great rally; with perfect weather, some of the best roads in the world, and the company of good friends, both old and new.  Missing Boone made it far too long.

Thanks to all who offered words of support and encouragement in regards to my recent difficulties; they meant the world to me.

Special thanks to Ducatiless Dave and Cap'n Ron, for spending some time on Tuesday evening helping me overcome my episode of dumbassery (lost my FJ ignition key while enroute to the rally... didn't bring a spare).   :wacko1:

This should go down as the best weather of all times for a fall rally. No rain at all and it's normally hot as hell down there and we had highs of low 80's and upper 70's. YESSS!
As far as i know no break downs or bike downs. what more can you ask for.. Had a ball as usual...  come on Boone..

I made it home around 11:00 Sunday night.

Once again had a blast, and if my work performance yesterday was any indication, I plum wore myself out...

...one brand new set of tires.. $200.00. Wearing said tires out in 5 days.... Priceless.

BTW, pics are up on 129 photos, Killboy, 129slayer.com and moonshiner .com for Thursday and Saturday at the dragon and 129 photos Saturday on the Cherohala.

Yep it was perfect and awesome weather.  Best that I can remember.  Had a great time as always.

I got to my folks place about 7p Saturday evening and home Sunday about 4p.  No problems.
