My fellow occers
Where is the best place in Australia for a new 89 FJ battery?
I've often been asked, 'What do you old folks do now that you're retired'?

"Well. I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background, and one of the things I enjoy most is turning beer, wine, Scotch, and margaritas into urine."

Colin.....recently bought an AGM battery from the local Exide dealer here in Nambour........was $140.
Congratulations on the rego mate.

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

Thanks for the reply Harvey.
I think the old one has had it.

K-Mart are also carrying bike batteries now.
They come with a one or two year no questions asked warranty.
Last time I looked an FJ sealed battery was about $75.00

Cheers,

Take a close look at the Kmart Battery.  The Positive and Negative terminals may be opposite to what the stock battery is. If so,the cables/leads don't reach. I bought a Kmart battery (in the US) that was configured this way. I got home and 'activated ' it before installing it--so no return.  It works fine, but I had to install a little homemade jumper assembly to get the cables to reach.. It  worked out fine for me as I was able to use the jumper assembly as a remote terminal to hook up a new wire harness for my horn. However, if you just want to drop in a new battery and the terminals are configured this way, it will make it a pain in the ass to install.

the Kmart battery worked fine other than that.

Mark, Just an FYI: you bought a battery for a 91+ FJ then.  The terminals were switched for the 91+ FJs.

I have purchased many Wal-Mart / K-Mart batteries for my 89 FJ over the years - they do have them with the terminals the other way.

But yes - good tip to make sure the terminal polarity is the correct way for your specific year FJ (84-90) vs. (91-93).

Marsh, that's good to know.  I had grabbed it because it was the correct size/dimension. I assumed they were all alike.

Have you looked in Supercheap, they have them in stock down hear so I imagine it would be the same up there, I think they are around the $100 mark.
