Here is a link to a sprocket/chain combo I am thinking about ordering for my stock 89? I don't have much time to research and like a click-one-button-and-order-it-all deal.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/220891516911?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

It is 17/40 110 link but I don't see anything about 530.  Will I need a chain cutting/riveting tool also?

Thanks in advance!

I'd steer clear of this chain.  It is rated for 400-600 sized bikes.  Too weak, it'll fail and take your engine cases with it.

Phil, listen to Ed ^^ he is spot on.

In the DID series you are looking for the 530 ZVM-X chain. Look at the DID specifications: http://www.didchain.com/chainSpecs.html
Click on "Yamaha" and go to page 4 of the Yamaha listings....see what we mean?

DO NOT RELY ON THE BULLSHIT INFO. SHOWN ON EBAY LISTINGS.  Listen to us. We have been down that road before.

G'day Phil,

I did the reasearch and came up with exactly the chain that the above guys are recommending. It is hard for your wallet to accept but you can buy cheap chains and you can buy good chains... Not both.

I was all ready to click "buy" on eBay but as a laugh I called into my local dealership for a quote. I nearly fell over when their price for exactly the same chain and sprockets were $60 cheaper than the cheapest eBay price and in stock. They even had the front sprocket locking washer in stock. Rear locking tabs were not available.

Cheers
