Venture side boxes?

So I'm sitting out in the garage taking a break from wrenching on the FJ and it strikes me as I'm looking at the FJ and my Venture sitting side by side: Thjose venture side boxes look like they would go pretty good with the FJ's lines.

I've got a spare set of side boxes in the parts loft frm an 85 venture I scrapped out a while ago (same one I'm grafting the cruise control from for my FJ).

Here's a pic of the boxes for ref:







They're solid, lockable, have a separate lock to take them on and off the bike and even have handles to be carried around like suitcases when off the bike. They're even contoured at the back for turn signals to stick out.

A simple frame is all that would be needed to mount them.

Seems like a decent match for an FJ, and it's even a Yamaha part!



I'm not a fan of luggage on my FJ, I just don't like the look. But it's hard to argue with some totting space for all the little bits of shrapnel we all seem to haul around with use in our daily lives. I almost feel spoiled in luggage psace when I take the Venture instead of the FJ.

So I'm wondering, am I the first to notice how these boxes might look good on the FJ or has someone tried this before?

 I think it is a great idea to try. If you have the mounting hardware off the old bike it may not even be that complicated. Document your attempt as those boxes shouldn't be too hard to find. I am sure many people would follow your lead if successful.

I second the suggestion to give them a try. I think I remember seeing a set of old Goldwing hard bags on an FJ, they looked ok on it. I think these would look even better. I just gave my Cortech saddlebags and top bag to my son for his Ninja 250, so I have been looking for another set of bags for my new FJ.
