In order to get the fork cap off I need to acquire a 27mm hex head bolt. or was it 22m? either way, it's 27mm. I've been everywhere and can't find a damn bolt to fit this thing! Home depot and lowes doesn't have it.
Where have you guys found this bolt? i can't even find it on the interwebz!

Try Ace Hardware.  I've had good luck finding metrics there, whereas I could not at Home Depot/ Lowes.

Good Luck.

Live hardy, or go home.

You already have one.....  The rear axle nut is the right size.  There is enough sticking up to gat a socket or wrench on it.

I had a real hard time using the rear wheel nut, it kept popping out of place, and I could not get enough grip without the wrench slipping.
Instead I used a "sparkplug remover" from a hardware store, basically a hollow tube of metal with the ends pressed inwards to make a double ending sparkplug remover in two sizes.  Worked a treat!
Squeaky wheels always get the grease...

a 23mm box spanner is 27mm on the outside, these work very well.

I had to order mine through Fastenal as no one stocked such a large size metric.

Go to a bolt supply house if you can find one in your area. They'll have what ever size you need.

My solution: 27mm nut. Plug weld a 3/8 drive socket into it and presto!

Only a motorcyclist knows why a dog sticks its head out the window of a moving car.

27mm is close enough to 1 1/8 " to use that.  Most 3/4" shaft bolts will have a 1 1/8 (1.125)" head.

I just bought the closest standard equivalent and ground down the edges until i got a perfect fit. Admittedly not the easiest thing to do, but it beat waiting a week for shipping.

Wakdady,

In the USA Yellow Pages, "nuts and bolts" is a separate product heading (better than "hardware," etc.)  Anywho.com is the Internet phone book (remember phone books?).

http://www.anywho.com/yellowpages

On that page, enter Nuts and Bolts as a product category, and your ZIP code as your location.  You will get listings of all the nearby dealers in Nuts and Bolts.  There are lots of them, almost anywhere in the USA.  Good hunting!

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.
