New Wind Screen

For a few years now I've been thinking that the wind screen on my '92 was looking a little weathered. 25 years and 150,000 km have taken their toll on the screen. The previous owner had installed a Laminar Lip on the screen - he's 6'4" and said that he got a lot of wind buffeting before it was installed. The previous owner had also decided to paint the inside of the screen black and I originally liked the look but as the screen became weathered and scratched it just seemed to show the blemishes that much more. There were also noticeable stress cracks around the mounting holes.

I still like the idea of having some sort of a lip or airfoil to push the wind up and make for a cleaner flow of air at touring speeds. Here's a picture of the new wind screen installed:

I took my wife for a ride yesterday evening and put about 80 km on the new screen. The airfoil has 6 positions to choose from and there is a noticeable difference in air flow to the face/helmet between the lowest and highest position. Yes, you can still see over the airfoil when it is in the highest position. I don't like having to look through a wind screen - I can do that in my car. I never had any complaints about how the Laminar Lip manages air flow but my first impression is that the new one does it a bit better. I also think it looks good and helps to "freshen up" the look of the bike.
