Hey guys,
I was driving along the highway when I felt the shifter lever get really loose. I pulled over to see what was wrong. The bolt holding the lever to the bike came undone and wasn't going back. I was able to get back home with very delicate shifting. I tried to screw it back in and it wasn't working. I pulled of the side aluminum panel and saw that there was no nut to screw in. To top it all off there is a cavity that you can't get into. Is there an insert screw that holds it together?

Thanks,
Mark

You have options, remove the lower fame rail. Then take it to a welder and have a new nut welded in. Or, if you have enough meet left in the tube you can drill it and insert a riv-nut. http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-rivet-nuts/=y9qalz

Not sure what the thread size is, I can show you a cheat method to install them without buying the custom tools.

Thanks for the information. I was looking into that but I though maybe there was an actual part that could be bought. Is it that the original nut was welded in that slot and it broke and fell down? What a badly planned part. I ordered from Ebay. I got 25 nuts so if anyone needs one in the future contact me if you like. It will take a little while but that's life. I also ordered some LED brake lights to go with my LED headlight and dash lights.
