cylinder bore honing

how important do you think are the honing mark inside the cylider?
the mechanic who helps me fix the bike at the repair shop, say that cylinders should be honed, but only on surface, because no longer honing mark (inside the cylinder bore is like a mirror)
I'm afraid if I am doing that, I must change the pistons..

In theory the crosshatched pattern on the bores is to help the rings break-in properly.  If the bore is completely smooth and you install new rings, there could be some issue.

If the bore has worn enough to remove all those markings, you need to measure very carefully the piston/cylinder clearances, as it may require going to oversized pistons and a rebore.  If everything measures within spec, a light honing may be indicated, as they don't remove much material.  Measure measure measure.

a hone should take out between 1 to 2 thou which is allowed for in the boring process, so as has been stated if your cross hatching( marks) have been removed your bore  has been bedded in to the rings that are already in it, and yes if you have the room to do it then a light rehone should be ok with new rings...
