Cam chain tensioner

Are there signs that can chain tensioner should be replaced?

Any good mechanic can just listen to the engine running and hear if the chains are looser than they should be.
If you had another FJ bike to compare to, you could do it yourself.

Pull the valve cover see if you can detect any slop in the chain then check the cam timing.

Next use a wrench on the cam hex and see it you can pull any slack in the chain.
