Welcome Melvin, the '84 tank cap has been a recent issue and some progress has been made. Other years of Yamaha bikes may have used the same cap or possibly cap parts. Is your cap missing or broken?
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

'86 Ambulance - Bent frame, cracked case, due for an overhaul
'89 Stormy Blue - Suits my Dark Side

Welcome to the forum.  :hi: There have been many modifications and upgrades that can be found through out this forum. Sadly the '84/'85 FJ1100 fuel cap is not one of them. There were no other Yamaha models that shared the fuel cap. Recently there was a post that the guts from a Yamaha XV500/535 can be swapped into the FJ cap. I am on my phone, so I can't copy and paste the thread.

Another option that has been done with success and there are no shortages of fuel caps. If your 1100 is White and Red that matches the 1986 1200, you can swap the 1200 fuel tank and all is good. The color scheme and striping should match.
Caution, you have to use a 1TX model 1200 fuel tank. Do not use a 3CV 1200 fuel tank. They have a free flow petcock due to a fuel pump added to the FJ.
