So, I was able to sit and watch some of the 2015 Isle of Man and while watching John McGuinness set a new speed records, I heard the announcers reference to the engine RPM's rising.

When he would be running at near max speed and he would lean into a curve that did not require him to decelerate the engine RPM would rise. The announcer said that was occurring due to the tire going to the side of the tread and reducing the diameter.

I had not heard that in years past. Has anyone else heard or experienced this?

Man those guys are crazy, but it is very interesting to watch.

Sounds Legit.

When you are leaned over in a corner, you are riding on the part of the tire that is smaller in diameter compared to the center of the tread.

I watched all the races as well --- I think some wheel spin too happens --- those guys just ride through it
