Just put these individual filters on, know that I gotta rejet, but any advice from experience would be appreciated.

I have not had good luck with K&N style individual paper filters for 2 reasons:
1) I had problems with the #1 and #4 filters staying on and
2) they didn't filter worth a shit.. I would oil them, and a week later they would be dry.

Lot's of discussion on this forum if you search. Just to get you started: http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=3889.0

I recommend that you throw those paper filters away and 1) go back to your stock airbox (K&N filter panel is fine in the airbox) or 2) install UniPod foam filters.

3) Replace your old stock rubber brake lines.

My advise is to read the thread Pat linked in his post .

It looks like you are running with no mufflers on a bobbed tail fj.  If you are strictly using this for drag racing go big on the mains .

Maybe 44 pilot jets with 120 mains.

Appreciate the link and I'll try these for a little while they might be just as bad but they're non oil filters. I'll order some foam ones for when I find out you're right lol.

Not strictly drag just different. I am running MotoGP shorty exhaust although they don't do much muffling. More of a weekend rider than a track bike, but I'd like a streetable tune but aggressive enough for track days. Again appreciate the advice.

This may help .. If you are gonna try to ride on the street then go with 42.5 pilot jets .

As an alternative to buying new filters you can try uni outer wraps over the K&Ns

copper

From my understanding the backspray from the carbs hits the plate on this style of filter, accumulates- runs down, and washes away everything underneath... So adding a layer that would also be washed away wouldn't really be saving any money or causing any less wear too the motor. As Pat said go back to the stock box or put the proper pod filters on.

Then what would you consider "proper" pods?

FjFighter86

I plan on getting rid of the whole rear subframe and building a new design, so the stock box isn't an option.

Either the Dual pod from RPM or foam type. Nothing with a backing plate like the k&n.

Harvy

As Copper says...... Uni Dual pods are the way to go:

.

Either from Uni on this page about 2/3 the way down:

http://www.unifilter.com/clamp-on/

In the US best bet is Randy at RPM
