Gentlemen, recently started having a couple issues that may be related.....when i drop it in gear the "clunk" seems to have gotten severe, am relatively sure the clutch is ok, as its never a fight to catch neutral parked or otherwise and engagement point hasnt changed......also, a vibrations has crept in around 3000rpm. So..i'm thinking a motor mount issue?   I see two, forward of motor, that appear to be rubber and hopefully arent difficult to service. Does this sound like the right direction?   thanks
89 FJ1200 saphire.blu owned 8-9 years.  By far the most satisfying of them all. Constant tinkering got me the best bike you could ever want.

check all the motor mounts.... check carb sync.... check output shaft for excessive play ...... check wheel bearings...... what does your chain look like? any tight links and or rust anywhere?

has the valve lash been checked/adjusted recently?

lots of things that can be checked for sure.

KOokaloo!

And, in addition to all the checks Racerman gave you, check the lower frame rail bolts are all in place and tight.  These can loosen and have been known to shear.  Depending on year, you may have to remove the footplates to properly check.

Cheers,
Arnie

The only thing to add is to take a peek at the cush drive.  Excessive beating on it will bork it up.
