Colour scheme will tell you if its still original paint.
Inner fairing panels will help if still with the fairing.
Otherwise, 84-85 generally the same.
86-90 generally the same.
91-93 generally the same.

I may have missed some change somewhere in the middle of 86-90?

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

Post the pix and yes to within a year or so...
1988 FJ1200
1991 FJ1200

There are 4 major fairing changes over the years.

1984-1985

1986-1987

1988-1990

1991-1996

Within each group will interchange. They do not interchange easily from group to group. The forward sub-frames, fairing, inner plastic shrouds, and associated parts are all different.
Example..... 1989 turn signal lenses will not fit on a 1991 or a 1986

Glad I asked and didn't just take a gamble on buying some fairings. ill ask the question will these be a straight swap onto a 89?

If that is the original paint then yes, looks like the Theft deterrent Silver and White of an '89. Good color for an FJ...
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

'86 Ambulance - Bent frame, cracked case, due for an overhaul
'89 Stormy Blue - Suits my Dark Side
