Much to my surprise, I couldn't find anything written up about how to add hazard/emergency flashers to our bikes (maybe I didn't look hard enough or use the right search terms). Regardless, here's instructions for those that might want add them:
1978 Yamaha 400 Sold
1984 Yamaha Maxim 400 Blew up
1982 Yamaha Vision Sold
1983 Kawasaki GPz1100 Sold
1984 Yamaha FJ1100 Killed it
1991 Yamaha FJ1200 Sold
2009 Triumph Sprint ST Sold
2014 Triumph Trophy SE

My 93 model has them fitted standard from the factory, though they only work with the key on. Don't US spec bikes of the same vintage have them fitted.

Too young to be old but old enough to know better.

Not a real good photo, but it's the sliding switch beside the high/low beam switch.

I don't think any of the US FJ's had them (nor many US bikes for that matter). However on some of the FJ's like mine, you can see a raised spot molded into the left housing where that switch would be installed.

My '81 Kaw GPz1100 has them too. Go figure.

It also has dual element bulbs in its turn signal stalks, that double as running lights. What was Yamaha thinking when they omitted these needed features?  :scratch_one-s_head:

If one possesses a rudimentary understanding of electrical circuitry and theory, here's some more options for adding the 4-way hazard feature.
