Corbin seat upholstery

Hey guys,

I was able to buy a Corbin seat for 50.00$. It needs a re-upholstery. I have most of the materials I need including some piping. The problem I'm having is finding the material on the front portion of the seat that touches the tank. I thought it was felt but when I went to a fabric store they said it wasn't felt but more like a velvet. They didn't have anything that would do the job. I was wondering if anyone knew what type of material it is because I am having a hell of a time finding it online. I know that it must be weatherproof or water proof but I just don't know what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

I say use what you want. My original seat and both Corbin's seem to be the same vinyl as the seat.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

use what you want and buy a tank protector for that area if you think it will rub the paint --- you can always get some 3M film protector as well if you want to make it less visible

The Corbin cover had the velvet type material but I will have a lot of vinyl left over so I'll go that route then. It will be more weather proof either way. The 3M film is a great idea as well. Thanks guys

Both my Gunfighter and Gunfighter & Lady have vinyl where it contacts the tank.

My Corbin originally had a patch of Suede leather on the underside where it touches the tank.
When I had it re-covered, he just used another piece of vinyl.
I'm not too worried about what happens to the paint under there, as it's always covered by the seat, and I always store it indoors.
