Re-Packed my Kerker Can

The Kerker has been getting slightly louder and louder lately, so I figured I would finally do something about it.

I purchased this kit a little bit ago.

A 5/32" Allen-wrench is the only tool I needed to do this.

3 screws, and the end-cap is off!

A look inside before removing the core, and insulation.

Yukk!

A quick clean-up on the wire-wheel.

A quick browse of the instructions, as I lay everything out.

I start with a double layer of wire mesh, then wrap it up with the stainless-steel wool.
It kinda looks like a home-made rocket!

Then bundle it all up in the insulation blanket.

Stuff it all back inside.

A little blue thread-lock on the screws, and it's all back together!

It was an easy 35-40 minute task. :good:
It's too late to start it up though, (everyone is in bed except me) so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to hear how it sounds.

Looks good, that should bring the DB down a few notches...
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

HaHa............Andy beat me to it.
Yeah, I kinda know what it sounds like with no packing..................or Can, for that matter..

I was told that I could be heard echoing through the Black Canyon, all the way back to the KOA.

Unmuffled, these things make ALOT of noise!

And I was grateful to Todd Quimby for giving me a ride back to Denver in the "SS Berkshire", so I wouldn't have to listen to that ear-splitting sound all the way home.

Andy made a valiant effort to try and find the can, but it is down in the Black Canyon somewhere, lost forever.  :drinks:

The Kroaker can on my '92 broke off in the same exact spot.
