Do you have any pics or a build diary?

was it a racer?  This is another one of those projects I always wanted to do ... and then do the hybrid fzr/yzf engine ... suspension updates ...

Hey Chris, Help, I'm lost.....(not the first time)

I am curious...

i can get a bit windy here, be prepared lol
when i bought her:

this is a good start, like so many things, i got a bit lazy with the details on the thread
one thing is for sure, i can always talk about this one
i put approx 600-1000 miles on it this summer
i feel the build is trustworthy now and i see a track day this spring
in fact, i recently got in touch with the previous owner and offered to do a track day with him
heh, i am gonna do a couple myself first because i feel the PO is going to be able to push the bike to its limits- it will surly be a true test of my build!

fjfool

hmm, maybe i should include the link to the thread :dash2:

also, fj1289, this is posted in my friends forum, "western colorado vintage"
the forum is pretty slow but, he does do a very cool annual show in Palisade
it would be great to see you(and anyone else!) there

fjfool

the carbs might of sold the deal for me
took a bit of a mint to get them back to order but, so worth it

fjfool

heh, you open the throttle and look down thru those bad boys right to the backside of the intake valves
at full throttle they are pretty much defining, they have long since overpowered the sound of the exhaust
it really is a tough choice between riding this or my 2012 gsxr750
the gixxer outclasses the old fizzer on every level but, the hot rod value of the old (well, pretty much new) girl makes it such a visceral ride, its hard to pass up
also, its freakin tiny!, it really does inspire a(possibly false) sense of confidence

fjfool

yup, thats a set of those cheap Chinese pre-painted fairings
they fit like complete shit(they'll surely be ground to splinters anyway by the end of the summer anyway), but from 5 feet away they look pretty damn cool
-too bad its not Wayne's 500cc 2stroke in there too!

i was able to use the crank out of the race motor
it had a "supercrank" service done by Falicon and passed all the tests when i sent her back
unfortunately, the ported head with the hot cams w/slotted sprockets had to be shelved until i win the lottery-this is where i learned where to draw the line, unless, sponsors anyone??
-new valves, springs, and valve job = $2000...no way, i'm not winning races- or racing for that matter. i just cant justify the cost of the extra 10-15HP, and, well, i simply don't have the money
so i went with a stock head and a valve job
so be it
the crank was still a thing of beauty!

I picked up a beat up old FZR400 USA model. My original intention was to swap an RD400 engine into it. Then I read about the FZR400/600 swap & that sounded interesting for a while. I'm back to my original RD engine idea, but I have not worked on the bike in about a year. I need to locate a good welder/fabricator to assist me with the motor mounts & modifying the bottom of the fuel tank.
