Yep, same here Monkey. It's so fortunate the Fj can push on with relatively little maintenance, cause I'd rather be riding than fixing and our California weather usually allows the former. I say usually since its been storming in the Bay area all week.
When I think of other bikes I've owned, I don't believe they'd be as 'flexible' with service intervals as my Fj has proven to be thus far.
The metal parts seem to polish up fine when they get some attention.
Even the brittle plastics respond well to some epoxy.
I was accustomed to a winter lay up in the UK from about November thru mid March. I don't miss that feature one bit.
The cost of living were I am is really getting crazy, but owning a motorcycle here kinda balances the books for me at any rate.

Gotta agree with the other year rounders. I get kind of envious of the time out for maintenance that a lot of you get in the winter, but I'm not going to move from the desert for that, so I try to do most of my necessary stuff in the morning. Sometimes, though, I have to make the time....
